Met Tathione Review – Does It Work?

In addition to face creams and spot treatments, there’s another way to lighten and even the tone of your skin. Met Tathione is a pill used by many women in Asia as part of their skin whitening and brightening regimen, but is it safe and effective?

In 2004, the White Beauty Corporation was formed through the cooperation of a skin specialist and an entrepreneur. Their flagship product is Met Tathione, and it is the number one Glutathione supplement on the market.

Met Tathione ReviewMet Tathione Ingredients and How They Work

Met Tathione is a Glutathione supplement. The official reason for taking a Glutathione supplement is for liver and blood detoxification.

It is an antioxidant, and it helps protect cells against damage caused during cancer treatments like radiation and chemotherapy.

But the beauty industry benefits from one of Glutathione’s side effects. It lightens skin by reducing the amount of melanin that gets produced.

The recommended dose is based on your weight. You should take Met Tathione 3 times per day, but the number of capsules you take each time depends on how much you weigh. The average person will take 1 capsule 3 times per day.

How long it takes to see visible results also varies. The average is about 2 to 3 months, but this varies based on your size and starting skin color as well.

You might also consider taking a Vitamin C supplement as this is known to speed up the whitening process.

Met Tathione is made in Japan and considered to be a food supplement. It is not regulated as a drug, but its manufacture does conform to the Japanese food supplement standards.

Met Tathione Pros and Cons

One of the surest ways to make a wise decision about whether or not to purchase a product is to compare the good and bad points as you see them.

Advantages of Met Tathione

  • It is a healthy antioxidant supplement
  • It may supplement your whitening/brightening routine

Disadvantages of Met Tathione

  • It is expensive
  • There have been no clinical studies to prove its effectiveness
  • While the commercials show several testimonials, every independent Met Tathione review we found indicated that it does not work
  • Even the bottle states in large print: “No Approved Therapeutic Claims”

Where to Buy

In the US, you can find Met Tathione online through a few different sources, like eBay and Amazon. The price for a bottle varies from about $85 to $110 – very pricey!

Conclusion

Skin lightening is big business all over the world. For so many women who believe they would be more beautiful if only their skin were lighter, the notion that they can achieve this goal with a simple pill is very powerful.

Unfortunately, this seems not to be the case. With no scientific or even reliable anecdotal evidence (and being hugely overpriced to boot), we have to recommend that you pass on Met Tathione, and look for a proven topical lightening solution instead.

Q: Does met tathione can prevent pregnant? -malou

A: Malou, if you're trying to conceive I would advise you to ask your Dr. what he thinks about taking this supplement. I know that Met tathione is a powerful antioxidant, so I wouldn't think it would prevent a pregnancy. Our bodies are very sensitive and getting pregnant isn't always easy for some. I would not add this to the mix if you're trying to have a baby. Rachel~WomensBlogTalk.com

Q: Can met thaitone cure melasma? -Luddie

A: Hi Luddie, I don't know if anything can cure melasma, but you can treat it. I haven't personally tried the Met Tathione pills so I can't attest to how it works. I would almost be a little scare to take something orally to change my skin. I don't want to look like Michael Jackson! LOL I've only had luck with topical treatments and using spf to prevent the spots from coming back. IPL laser treatment is the best laser option for melasma as well, but that can get costly. The topical treatment I recommend is Illuminatural 6i made by Skinception. Love their products! Rachel~WomensBlogTalk.com

Q: Taking met thione can affect for infertility? -Ayuni Dhakshina

A: Ayuni, this is something you'd want to discuss with a fertility Dr. I have gone through numerous fertility treatments so you'll want to be careful. Met is a strong anti oxidant, not FDA approved (no supplements are) but it's not something you want to play with especially if you are older with the clock ticking. Good luck! Rachel

A: Hi Gracie, I really can't advise you on medical issues. Met is a powerful anti-oxidant so I don't know how that may interfere (or not) with thyroid meds, it's best to check with your Dr. before starting a new supplement, even if it's over the counter. Good luck! Rachel

Q: It is safe to take met tathione when you had Mirana, levonorgestrel? -Gerlie

A: Hi Gerlie, I'm not a Dr. so I really cannot advise you. Met is an anti-oxidant so it's best to double check. If you're looking to lighten you skin, it's good to also use a topical treatment. Beautycounter's Brightening oil is a safe, non toxic brand that gives good results. I have never taken Met Tathione and I personally would not feel comfortable taking a pill to lighten my skin. Good luck! Rachel

Q: Is there any posible that taking met 2 capsule in the morning before breakfast and take 1 capsule after dinner is the reason why my headaches never stop? I am curious because the only food supplement I take recently is the Meta thione plus Vitamin C -Irene

A: If this is more than the recommended dose, I would follow the directions. It is a very strong anti-oxidant so it could be the cause of your headaches if that's the only thing different you've added to your routine. I would stop and use a topical instead.  Meladerm is a good one. Rachel

Q: Can i take methathione during summer time? -Cristina

A: Cristina, You can but I would always wear spf 50 and don't go in the sun for any length of time. I would imagine if you're trying to lighten your skin, you're not sunbathing at the beach! :) I'm always battling hyperpigmenation, I have dark spots along my upper neck, and along my jawline. I use Beauty Counter's Brightening Collection and it's amazing. It's a mask you can use 2-3x per week as well as a facial oil that also has lightening properties along with a spritzer you can carry around in your purse or use to set your makeup. Check it out when you have time. It's good to use something topical, I'm honestly afraid of taking any pill to lighten my skin. Rachel

A: Ren, that's something you should definitely ask your Dr. Met is a very strong antioxidant so you may want to be cautious of taking any unnecessary supplements while you're pregnant. A better choice for skin lightening that's safe with no toxins is Beautycounter's Brightening Oil, it contains lots of natural skin lighteners and feels wonderful on the skin, not greasy and fully absorbs.  Good luck! Q: Is MET bad for women want to be pregnant? -mae

A: Mae, it's probably NOT a good idea. You should definitely check with a Dr. before using this if you're pregnant, or trying to get pregnant. Personally I wouldn't take the stuff, I'd use a topical cream like Illuminatural 6i. It contains no hydroquinone so it's safe to use while you're pregnant, and it works great. I've used it on and off for years to lighten dark spots. I'm highly allergic to hydroquinone. Rachel

Amalia, no results would be kept forever, sun can darken the skin again… just keep up a skin lightening routine and avoid the sun, that’s your best bet to keep your results. I have not tried Met Tathione, I prefer using topical treatments. Rachel

Caroline, I’m not sure. I actually don’t give a recommendation to Met Tathione, I prefer a topical lightening treatment and my recommended product is Illuminatural 6i. Taking pills to lighten the skin freaks me out, actually. 🙂 Rachel

Maria, I wouldn’t think that Methathione would contribute to pimples since it’s an antioxidant. But everyone’s skin reacts differently. Personally I would use a topical cream like Illuminatural over taking a pill. Rachel

Hi. I just started taking Met Tathione capsules. Today is my second week so there isn’t much changes happening, but my skin is starting to glow and lighten so I guess I should expect few good results in the next few weeks. What bothers me is I’m kind of planning to try detox while taking Met the same time coz I badly need to lose weight. I heard about the “Apple Cider Vinegar” detox and wanted to try it. Is it okay? I mean detox and taking Met? Please enlighten me. Thank you.

Hi Amber, I couldn’t find a ton of research on Met Tathione. But it appears this is just an antioxidant so I don’t think it will hinder your detox. Although if you’re detoxing with apple cider it may just flush it out of your system sooner than if you weren’t detoxing. On the flip side, detoxing will also help your skin. Are you just going to supplement with Apple cider? I.e. Taking a few spoonfuls per day or are you following something else? Best way to detox is to eat a clean, organic diet with a ton of fruits and veggies, and healthy sources of lean protein like organic chicken and wild salmon. Adding some apple cider will certainly help. Good luck. Rachel~WomensBlogTalk.com

Thanks about this review, Teresa. I have to agree to what you’ve said. I’ve been using MET TATHIONE for 6 months now and I have NOT seen any significant sign of improvement. I’ve been taking 4 capsules a day and really, it does NOT work. I’ve decided now to stop spending my money on this (especially, since it’s very expensive). I would have still continued with taking these pills if only I saw even at slight change in my skin-tone (even by just one shade), but unfortunately, I did not see any. I’m a fair-skinned toned person, I’m just taking these to primarily even out my skin tone (because those which are exposed to the sun often are really darker in shade). This product is a waste of money (if you’re goal is skin-whitening).
