Image Skincare Clear Cell Review – Is this an Effective Acne Treatment?

I wanted to write this Image Skincare Clear Cell review to talk about the products I’ve used for the past two years and specifically what they help with!

I started using the Clear Cell line to help cleanse my skin as well as keep my acne under control. I tend to breakout on my cheeks and jawline, and most of the time they are small to moderate breakouts.

There are times when I will get a cystic breakout and the Clear Cell line seems to heal these breakouts better than other acne lines I have previously used.

Clear Cell Salicylic Gel Cleanserclear cell reviews

The Clear Cell Salicylic Gel Cleanser comes in a pump and is a foaming cleanser that lathers away sebum and excess oil and gently exfoliates without stripping the skin. It contains salicylic acid which is a proven acne fighting ingredient.

How I use this product

At night I use a makeup remover wipe followed by the Clear Cell salicylic gel cleanser with my Clarisonic Mia which helps lather up the gel cleanser. I like this cleanser because it helps remove any makeup that is left on my skin as well as making my skin feel clean without drying it out.

Why it works:

  • Reduces shine and unplugs clogged pores
  • Helps cell turnover by gently exfoliating dead skin cells
  • Helps to reduce acne blemishes
  • Calms irritation and redness

Clear Cell Medicated Acne Facial Scrubimage clear cell reviews

The Clear Cell Medicated Acne Facial Scrub is gentle yet effective for acne without irritating sensitive skin or causing existing breakouts to become aggravated. With Benzoyl peroxide and micro beads, it deep cleans pores and sloughs away dead skin and kills bacteria.

How I use this product

If I am looking for a deep clean feeling I will add in the medicated acne facial scrub mixed with a small amount of the gel cleanser, this helps to exfoliate my skin but isn’t as harsh on my skin as a regular exfoliator is, I usually do this several times a week.

This scrub contains benzoyl peroxide that helps kill the bacteria that is on my skin which causes my acne and the small beads in the scrub helps to exfoliate the dead skin on my face making my skin feel very smooth.

Why it works:

  • Reduces acne blemishes
  • Kills bacteria that causes acne
  • Exfoliates dead skin cells without irritating
  • Calms redness and irritation

Clear Cell Salicylic Clarifying Padsclear cell review

The Clear Cell Salicylic Clarifying Pads are perfect to remove any impurities left on your skin after washing. The glycolic and salicylic acid in these pads helps with remove dead skin cells as well as reducing any redness on the skin.

How I use this product

After drying my skin, I use the salicylic clarifying pads. These pads do an amazing job at giving my skin a very deep pore clean feeling. If I feel an outbreak under my skin trying to come out or have an active breakout I hold the pad on the area and it helps to reduce the size of the breakout and the breakout doesn’t last as long as it would without the pads.

The pads do sting slightly if I have an active breakout but once it dries the sting goes away, I almost like the stinging feeling because I feel like it is working deep inside the pores and killing the bacteria.

Why it works:

  • Reduces acne blemishes
  • Kills bacteria that causes acne and removes oil
  • Clears clogged follicles
  • Exfoliates dead skin cells without irritating
  • Calms redness and irritation

Clear Cell Medicated Acne Lotionclear cell reviews

Clear Cell Medicated Acne Lotion is the perfect last step to my cleansing regime. The active ingredient benzoyl peroxide attacks the bacteria that causes breakouts.

This lotion contains botanical brighteners that sooth skin that is suffering from redness, fades existing acne marks and reduces irritation on active breakouts.

How I use this product

After using the pads, I use the medicated acne lotion. This lotion helps provide my skin with the right amount of moisture and helps reduce the oil on my skin. If I have an active breakout this lotion helps reduce the redness on my skin and gives it a clean hydrated feeling.

I like using this lotion in the morning and at night because it doesn’t dry my skin out like most products do that contain benzoyl peroxide, it provides moisture and helps fight acne causing bacteria that is on my skin.

Why it works:

  • Reduces acne blemishes
  • Kills bacteria that causes acne and removes oil
  • Reduces the overproduction of sebum
  • Calms redness and irritation from active and old blemishes

Clear Cell Medicated Acne MasqueImage skincare clear cell reviews

The Clear Cell Medicated Acne Masque contains a great mix of salicylic acid, glycolic acid, clay and antioxidants that helps pull out excess oil and impurities from the skin while reducing redness and calming irritated skin.

How I use this product

I use the acne masque several times a week at night, it contains a mix of salicylic and glycolic acids that helps to reduce my acne.

When I use this mask, I let it dry on my skin for about 15 minutes, as its drying on my skin I feel like it pulls out the impurities from my skin and clears out my pores while keeping my skin soft.

Once I remove it with warm water it gives a light exfoliation as well which makes my skin feel extra soft and clean. I have used other masks in the past that tend to make my skin dry and irritated after removing it.

This mask does the opposite, it pulls out the impurities and helps reduce any redness on my skin while leaving the skin soft and clean.

Why it works:

  • Reduces acne blemishes
  • Kills bacteria that causes acne and removes oil
  • Absorbs excess sebum and oil
  • Helps to counteract the effect of dryness
  • Calms redness and irritation from active and old blemishes

Image Skincare Clear Cell Review Conclusion

clear cell reviews

The Image Skincare Clear Cell line has helped keep my acne under control for the past two years. I still get breakouts but with this skincare line the breakouts seem to heal a lot faster and they don’t get as bad and cystic as they did in the past.

With other acne products that I have used there is usually a period of time that you have to go through which includes drying, peeling and redness because the skin is adapting to the product.

With the Clear Cell line, I didn’t experience any of this. The products never made my skin go through that bad before good period of time. The products all sooth the sensitive acne skin while providing the right amount of moisture and acne killing ingredients.

I stopped using Clear Cell for a while to give Curology a try (an online RX treatment and you can read my review there) but overall the Clear Cell line worked more effectively for me and I will continue to use these products.

Thanks for reading my Clear Cell review, it’s definitely a great line to try!

Q: Hi I have been using proactiv for the last three years... my skin has eased ip and broke out really bad a few times during thus period... I have recently purchased the clear cell cleanser however I am now a little wary of using it as some reviews say they broke out really bad from using it.. please help I'm confused AF.... ? -Ali

A: Hi Ali, Image Clearcell line is great, they have one of the best lines of skin care I've ever used, don't be weary at all about giving it a try!  Are you using the other Clear Cell products along with the cleanser? You need more than just a cleanser but I wouldn't worry about what reviews say, everyones skin is different. Another line you could try if you don't like Image is the Beautycounter Countercontrol line - my friend Melissa who tries all my acne products just used it for 2 months and you can read her review there. It's similar to Proactiv in that it has all the steps, but they don't use harmful chemicals and preservatives like Proactiv, it's much better in my opinion. I don't have a bad word to say about Image, however it is a strong line so if you feel it's too harsh for your skin, give the Beautycounter a try. Good luck! xo Rachel
