Clarins Bright Plus HP Repairing Brightening Night Cream Review

Clarins Bright Plus HP Repairing Brightening Night Cream Overview

One of the most difficult skin issues to address as we age is lightening dark spots.  These spots can be caused by all sorts of things.  They might be freckles you’ve had your whole life or ones that have appeared lately with age.  They might be hormonal spots or patches you got during pregnancy or while taking birth control pills.  They may be simply from age.  Or they may be sun damage.  Whatever the cause, when they appear, we look for ways to get rid of them or at least minimize them.  This is not an easy task, and we often end up covering it up with makeup instead.

But we keep hope alive, and we keep looking for that holy grail that will actually even our skin tone.  Don’t get me wrong.  Some of these products work to an extent.  It’s just that more often than not, they don’t live up to expectations.  With that said, today we’re talking about Clarins Bright Plus HP Repairing Brightening Night Cream, which promises to work overnight, slowing down the production of melanin, the pigment that causes dark discolorations.  This silky cream is also said to comfort and soothe skin, so you wake up with bright, radiant skin.

Clarins Bright Plus HP Repairing Brightening Night Cream ReviewClarins Bright Plus HP Repairing Brightening Night Cream Ingredients and How They Work

The main lightening ingredient in Clarins Bright Plus HP Repairing Brightening Night Cream is Vitamin C.  It  raises Glutathione levels in your skin which inhibits the production of melanin.  Also in the formula are:

  • Daisy Extract which is rich in antioxidants for slowing down the beginnings of skin darkening.
  • Parsley Extract which reduces water retention in skin.
  • Sea Lily and Alchemilla Extracts which help brighten skin.
  • Raspberry Extract for added antioxidant protection against damages caused by free radicals.

You should use Clarins Bright Plus HP Repairing Brightening Night Cream at night to relieve the stressors that have  accumulated throughout the day, so you wake up with soft, refreshed, radiant skin.
Clarins Bright Plus HP Repairing Brightening Night Cream Pros and Cons

Advantages of Clarins Bright Plus HP Repairing Brightening Night Cream

  • It contains Vitamin C which is good for skin in so many ways in addition to lightening.  It provides antioxidant protection, it encourages skin cell turnover, and it helps skin produce more collagen.
  • Most of the Clarins Bright Plus HP Repairing Brightening Night Cream reviews we found were favorable, commenting mostly on its benefits as a anti-aging night cream.

Disadvantages of Clarins Bright Plus HP Repairing Brightening Night Cream

  • It’s a little on the expensive side.
  • The jar packaging means that most of the important ingredients will not last in terms of effectiveness.  Botanical and vitamin ingredients break down in the presence of light and air.  Repeated opening of the jar causes frequent exposure to both.
  • Some reviewers, though not many, say it caused them to break out.  Others were happy with the feel of the Clarins Bright Plus HP Repairing Brightening Night Cream, but didn’t find it to be very brightening.

Where to Buy

You can purchase Clarins Bright Plus HP Repairing Brightening Night Cream in department stores or online.  The 1.7 ounce jar sells for $66.

Conclusion

I’m afraid Clarins Bright Plus HP Repairing Brightening Night Cream belongs to the long and growing list of disappointing skin lightening products.  It’s a fine moisturizer, but its lightening ability is not great.  On to the next, I suppose.

Q: I need clarins products that can gradually lighten up my skin. Clear blemishes and reduce the appearance of after shave bumps -Basira

A: Basira, does it have to be Clarins brand? I'm not familiar enough with that line to recommend something. I would try using a combo of the Skinception AHA Toner, which is a gentle toner with alphahydroxy acids that will help clear your blemishes and help increase cell turnover, and also allow a lightening product to absorb more deeply and effectively. If you pair this with Illuminatural 6i skin lightener I think you'll have beautiful results. There is no hydroquinone in the skin lightener as that is a toxic ingredient I avoid, this one is all natural.  Thanks! Rachel
